My View of May 2012

There’s plenty of planet movement this month, including an eclipse and a retrograde phase for Venus. Communication is important right from the beginning of May, but this theme becomes increasingly significant as the month unfolds.May begins with a full moon in the sign of Scorpio on the 5th. This is the sign that deals with emotional change and transformation, so this is a good moon for clearing cluttered feelings and dealing with emotional baggage.

On the 8th Mercury shifts signs from bold and active Aries to value-orientated Taurus. Taurus is an earthy sign that prefers to feel anchored , so communication might be less impulsive and more consistent, while thinking processes are less rash and more security conscious, which can affect choices and decision-making. On the 13th the Sun conjunct’s (sits next to) Jupiter in Taurus, which is an extremely positive influence, especially for finance and income, but really for anything that has a focus on the material world as Taurus is the appreciator of all things physical and sensual.

On the 15th Venus begins a retrograde phase in Gemini. Venus is interested in relationships, harmony, love, and money; Gemini is interested in communicating and dialog. Because a retrograde phase tends to mean looking back rather than forward, it’s likely this can mean that certain relationships are up for review or assessment over the next few weeks, or maybe a bit of rethinking when it comes to purchase and finance. Some relationships temporarily take a back seat over the next few weeks while others seem to return to the forefront. Communication brings old contacts back into connection, while simultaneously shifting the priority of current contacts.

On the 20th the Sun moves from Taurus into Gemini, again increasing the focus on communication. On the same day the moon meets the sun in Gemini, which indicates a new moon, but there’s something special about this one as it’s a solar eclipse. Events around the time of eclipses are often quite significant, indicating change or new beginnings of some sort (especially during solar eclipse time). The strong Gemini influence indicates communication is at the heart of this; along with the relationship/money reviews and changes that retrograde Venus in Gemini might bring up.
